We’re looking for and additional member of Stockport Credit Union to volunteer as lay-member of the Audit Committee.
What’s involved?
Lay members are invited to audit committee meeting to provide a members view on matters of risk management, regulation and compliance, internal controls and both internal and external audit findings.
You don’t need experience of being on an audit committee, or have any experience of the above. In fact, the point of serving on the audit committee as a lay member is to not be experienced – so we get an objective view.
You must be a member of Stockport Credit Union (with either a share or loan account) and you must live within in the common bond.
What is the commitment?
The audit committee meets roughly every two months for around 2 hours and occasionally in between if extra meetings are required, although these are rare. All meetings are scheduled in advance.
All lay members are appointed by the Board who determine the membership of the audit committee. Onboarding may involve being asked to undertake a basic DBS check, and this will be paid for by us.
How do I find out more?
If you want more information on what the audit committee do head over to the governance pages to read the Terms of Reference. If you have any questions or want to find out more you can contact the Chair of the Audit Committee directly john.thompson
